     How many different tools do you have available to cut with? We will tend to fall back on the use of tools that we are familiar with. We will likely be safer using a tool we are comfortable using. This tool is not always the best one to perform the job. On our department we are blessed with many choices of tools.

     Happy Fall IFA Members! As promised in my September article, I would like to provide everyone with an update pertaining to our very successful Aug. 12, 2020 Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the new Fire Service Training Bureau facilities, located at the Camp Dodge Joint Maneuver Training Center in Johnston, IA.

     Visitors to public lands and other recreational sites in the Nebraska Panhandle are being advised of wildfires in the region, and are being asked to be especially cautious because the heightened risk for fires brought on by hot and dry weather.

     An ambulance traveling southbound on I-29 crossed the center median and struck a northbound tractor-trailer. A 29-year-old female paramedic was ejected from the passenger seat of the ambulance and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the ambulance was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

     The Box Elder Volunteer Fire Department responded to a report of smoke visible in a residential structure at 125 West Gate Rd, Box Elder, SD. 

     First arriving firefighters found a free burning fire with a heavy smoke condition, issuing from the single-story residential structure.
