   June 9-11, 2022: 2022 South Dakota Fire School, Pierre.

   June 10, 2022: Jr. State Fire School for school-age children at the 2022 South Dakota Fire School, Pierre.  

On Saturday April 30, shortly before 11 a.m., Waterloo Fire Rescue was dispatched to a residential fire at 430 Bratnober St. Initial callers said there was a person trapped in a second floor bedroom. Upon arrival, firefighters found smoke coming from a second floor bedroom, and the trapped person being assisted out of the residence.

   Within the past few months, we have seen many vehicle accidents involving emergency responders nationally. Some have hit very close to home. It is critical that we take the time to utilize the safety equipment we have available to us. One critical device that is often overlooked by responders is the seatbelt.

   It has been announced that we have begun raising funds for an Iowa Firefighters Memorial wall expansion project.  The memorial walls will be full in less than 10 years.  The wall expansion that was done in 2005 was filled up last year and we have started adding names to the granite panels on the back side of the front walls.

   The Rapid Valley Volunteer Fire Department responded to a report of a residential structure fire in the 6000 block of Old Folsom, Rapid Valley, unincorporated, Pennington County, SD on Apr. 23, 2022 at 1:48 a.m.
