   Sept. 6, 2026: Tactics on Tap, Watertown.

   Sept. 8, 2026: Region 12-Minnesota Valley, St. Clair, meal served at 7 p.m., meeting starts at 7:30 p.m.

   Sept. 9-13, 2026: IFA Convention, Manchester, IA.

In December 2024 and January 2025, we examined the four attributes of smoke: velocity, volume, density, and color. Understanding each attribute is important, but firefighters must also know how to combine those observations into a quick, repeatable size-up.

Evansdale fire

Evansdale Fire responded to a residential fire at 12:30 a.m. on Dec. 17. Sleeping residents were alerted by the Evansdale Police Department and safely evacuated.

Overhaul

     Being a firefighter has some great benefits. Riding in a truck with lights and sirens, cool shirts, the respect of your community, etc. There are a few things about this job that do stink.

Stuart fire

Stuart Fire was called into service at 1 a.m. on Nov. 26 for a structure fire at the M and G Storage units at the west end of town. Smoke and heavy fire was found upon arrival.
