Everyone goes home
Well, here we are halfway thru the year already. Hope everyone’s calls have slowed down to give you time to gear up for another dry fire season. Please be prepared. Wear your PPE, attend training, stay hydrated, and wear your seat belt when in a vehicle.
These are just a few things to help keep you safe and to make sure “Everyone Goes Home”. You can go to https://www.everyonegoeshome.com and under training, you will find the “Courage to be Safe” training you can do on-line. The central theme promotes the courage to do the right thing in order to protect yourself and other firefighters and ensure that “Everyone Goes Home” at the end of the day. It only takes an hour and at the end you will receive a certificate. There are also several other trainings you can do on this site which are all free! Take the time to check it out.
Here is a reminder since we are halfway thru the year for those of you that are “Certification Administrators” for your departments Volunteer Emergency Responders incentive program that you must provide each department member with notice of the total points he or she accumulated during each 6-month period of each year. This must be on a calendar year basis.
Renewal information for your NSVFA membership was sent out to your departments. We hope everyone received this information and continues being members of this great association. We have so many things to offer for you and our department. Nebraska Fire School Discount, Nebraska Firefighter Newspaper, Advocacy, Training Events, Legal Counsel, National Representation, Insurance, Discounts, Communication with other departments, and partnerships just to name a few! If you have any questions or would like someone to talk to your department from the NSVFA just give the office a call and let them know. One of the E-Board members would be glad to come out and pay a visit to your department or Mutual Aid Group.
Another reminder is to go to the NSVFA website, under memberships at the top of the page, click on membership benefits and at the bottom of that page you will see a red box for the “Beneficiary Designation Form”. Click on that red box and make sure all members of your department fill this out. Print it, and then it is to be kept at your department. October will be here before you know it so don’t forget to get registered for the NSVFA annual conference to connect with volunteer firefighters from across the state at the 2023 NSVFA Annual Conference on Oct. 19-21, 2023 in South Sioux City, NE sponsored by Dakota City!
The E-Board and Fire School Committee will be meeting the first weekend in August for setting budgets, reviewing the comments from fire school, and other agenda items for the betterment of the Association. Have a safe and fun rest of your summer!!!
