Guttenberg called to house fire
On Friday December 1, at 7:31 a.m., the Guttenberg Fire Department was dispatched to 730 N 4th Lane for smoke coming from a residence. Upon arrival of the first fire personnel, it was determined there was smoke and fire coming from the basement on the south end of the structure. They were advised that no one was home or in the residence at the time of the call. Firefighters made an initial attack on the fire and had it under control quickly. An initial investigation was started once the fire was under control. After speaking with the homeowner and witnesses, it was determined to be an accidental fire that started near the furnace. The fire department cleared the scene at 10:08 a.m. At this time there are no injuries and no obvious signs of foul play. The Guttenberg Fire Department was assisted by the Garnavillo Fire Department, Guttenberg Ambulance, Guttenberg Police Department and Clayton County Sheriff’s Department.
