Greetings, The Iowa Wild Hockey team has set up a special night of Hockey for the Iowa Firefighters Assoc. Jan. 5th at 7 p.m. What is great about this is the normal price of tickets is $30 but for this night they will be $20 and they will donate $5 from each ticket sold to the Firefighters Memorial expansion fund. The Legislative season has started and we the Board with Cyndi and John have begun the process of meeting with members of the House and Senate. Remember to follow our website to assist with getting the word out to contact them when there is a “Call to Action” this does get their attention when you all respond.
We the Fire Service here in Iowa and across the Nation have had too many of our members succumb to cancer. I have been asked to look into getting it set as a Line of Duty Death. Whenever this topic is brought up the first thing said is what are the percentages and numbers. To this end, the NVFC has started a cancer registry to get these. They are asking all firefighters, not just cancer victims to sign up so the information can be compiled. Rest assured that I/We are not going to stop pushing this issue.
