Old Folsom Rd Structure Fire Held to a Single Alarm

   The Rapid Valley Volunteer Fire Department responded to a report of a residential structure fire in the 6000 block of Old Folsom, Rapid Valley, unincorporated, Pennington County, SD on Apr. 23, 2022 at 1:48 a.m.

   First arriving firefighters found a free burning fire, with a heavy smoke condition, in the interior and roof assembly of an under construction, unoccupied residential structure.

   Firefighters, despite the high wind warning with winds steady from the north at  38 mph with gust to 55 mph contained  the fire to the  structure of origin, stopping the spread of the flames to nearby infrastructure, construction equipment  and other improvements.

   No injuries to firefighters, civilians or domestic animals were reported, 

   Agencies responding included Pennington County 911, Rapid Valley Volunteer Fire Department, Battle Creek Fire Department, Rockerville Volunteer Fire Department, North Haines Volunteer Fire Department, Rapid City Fire Department and Ambulance, Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, and the Black Hills Fire Chaplains Association.
