Planning underway for 2024 Nebraska State Fire School
The 2023 is officially "in the books" and we are already planning for the 2024 school.
I would like to take this opportunity to recognize Scott Cordes as the newly-appointed Nebraska State Fire Marshal. Throughout the fire school, I saw time and time again that Scott was interacting and visiting with numerous EMTs, firefighters and others. It was evident that Scott was approachable and easy to talk to.
In addition, the first session of the 108th legislature ended on June 8. A final report on all of the legislative bills can be found at nebraskalegislature.gov Also, since the Senators have headed back home, now is the time to invite them down to the fire station to get acquainted (or re-acquainted) and let them know how we can work with each other as well as the needs of us in the fire service.
This is also a good time to thank our Lobbyist, Jerry Stilmock as well as the entire NSVFA legislative Committee not only for a job well done but for a job VERY well done!
In case you haven't heard, the 2023 fire season is already here. As I compose this letter (June 9) Gering Fire Chief Nathan Flowers received a request for volunteer deployment to the state of Minnesota.
Regardless, best wishes to you all!
Darrell Vance,
President, NSVFA
Gering, Nebraska
