Strong turnout for Fire Service Day

   Thank you to all who attended the annual Fire Service Day at the Capitol on Monday, Feb. 26. We were thrilled to see such a strong turnout of firefighters from across the state! This year, our main priorities include protecting firefighter pensions, advocating for local control of emergency medical services, and addressing the challenges of lithium-ion battery fire suppression.

   During our discussions, we took a moment to reflect on the recent tragedies in Burnsville. This heartbreaking incident serves as a stark reminder of the daily risks faced by our first responders. Our thoughts and sympathy go out to the families, friends, and colleagues affected by this tragedy, and we stand in solidarity with our fellow emergency service providers.

   Our conference committee has been hard at work preparing the agenda and selecting classes for the upcoming annual conference and fire school, scheduled for Sept. 20-21 in Mankato. Do you have any specific class or training topics you’d like to suggest? We welcome your input!
