   In my time on the fire department, we have always had some form of hydraulic rescue equipment. The first for me were the original Hurst “Jaws of Life”. These were made famous by the 70’s television series “Emergency.” They were truly a leap forward in vehicle extrication.

Beresford Fire fought multiple fires at mile marker 50 on I-29 on Thursday, Sept. 8, at 08:45. The box/van truck was on fire when the driverpulled it out of the driving lane and onto the shoulder of the interstate.

   The Rapid Valley Volunteer Fire Department responded to a report of a residential structure fire in the 4700 block of Greenfield Ln., Rapid Valley, unincorporated,

Pennington County, SD on Aug. 28, 2022 at 00:12 a.m.

On July 21, Sandstone Fire and their mutual aid partner Finlayson Fire and Rescue were dispatched to a Dell Road address for a fully involved mobile home.  The occupants had safely evacuated and no injuries were reported. The structure was a complete loss. Also responding were the Pine County Sheriff’s office and Essentia Ambulance.

On Wednesday, January 19, Sandstone Fire was dispatched to investigate a report of smoke at the Northern Pine Chiropractic offices in the City of Sandstone.
